Get ready Monarchs, Mercy soccer is back for another season. After weeks of hard practice and conditioning, these girls are ready to show off their skills.

Both J.V. and Varsity played the Blair Bears at CSM soccer field. Warm ups started with some not so warm weather. The stands were filled with Monarchs parents and students who came to support their classmates.

The game started with some great defense from our Monarchs, but the Bears scored towards the end of the first half. The Monarchs didn’t let that get to them and Melany Davis ‘22 scored the first goal of the season for Mercy. The game continued and ended up going into overtime. With a tied score at the end of overtime, the athletes then went into a double overtime! Even after this, a shoot-out was required. PK’s were taken and finally, a sudden death round was put into place. In the end, the Monarchs came up short and the Bears secured the win.

While it’s not the start we hoped for, fellow Mercy fans can look forward to a great season filled with amazing athletes and great games.
