Mercy girls, fondly referred to as Monarchs, are full of excitable spirit all year. From competitive totals in the canned food drive during spirit week to unfathomable containers for Anything But a Backpack Day, Mercy girls are all about the positive energy they radiate into the building.
While these dear friends are no students, they certainly add to the atmosphere in their own special ways. We are blessed to have two wonderful canine companions greet us in the building.
This lovely dog is Eleanor. She belongs to Ms. Kowal and accompanies her throughout the day to various classes. Every once in a while, she may give you a curious sniff as you walk by. She is a very gentle giant and loves to run around on the gym floor. Expect to see Eleanor on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Our second four-legged guest is named Libby. Her fur coat gives the illusion of a bear in the school! Both Libby and Eleanor went through special training classes in order to visit us in our hallways. Libby was first introduced as Mrs. Miller’s Anything But a Backpack, carrying around her human’s lightweight items in her ”satchel”. She behaved beautifully and was given permission to visit on Mondays and Fridays.
Although they don’t take classes or find parking with the eyes of a true Monarch, they certainly do give the school a very homey atmosphere and light up the faces of anyone who passes.
