Support Local

As Covid-19 has shut down schools, it has also put restrictions on restaurants and stores. With that it can hurt the sales and the workers also. During this time people should think about the small/ local businesses around them. This pandemic truly hurts them and some businesses have had to let people go due to it.

During this time, many local clothing stores have just gone to online shopping. All restaurants have gone to carry out or curbside pickup and some even have delivery options. General Manager Scott Chisholm from Pitch Pizzeria in Dundee said, “It’s very important to support local businesses, especially right now! One, it will help ensure that they are still open when things go back to normal, and two it will hopefully keep more money circulating locally”.

He added that it has been hit and miss, some days it’s crazy and other days not so much. The first week and weekend they were overwhelmed with support.  Things have maybe tapered off since a little, but he also didn’t think everyone is in a position to give. But servers had some big tips and everyone’s mood/patience made working those days a lot of fun.

What some people have been doing to “support local” is buying gift cards. With today’s technology it is easy to buy gift cards online and save them for later.

So during this time if you are going out to eat, try and support local. And don’t forget to wash your hands!
