Stuck? Senior Gives Advice On College Planning

As the new year is here, it’s time for the seniors to start applying for colleges, scholarships, and financial aid. This is also a good time for juniors to look into colleges and are encouraged to take the ACT and SAT.  If there are difficulties in college planning, there is no need to fret. Here is some advice from a current senior about college planning.

When Senior Victoria Nimneh was asked if there was any college advice for fellow seniors and juniors her response was, “Looking for colleges can be difficult but you should look into a college that is offering the career you want to pursue and help you with your needs specifically. Also, look around the campus. Get to know the environment and talk with students about their experience.”

When asked if there are any scholarships available and who is eligible to apply, Victoria talks about the Warren Buffett Scholarship. “The Warren Buffett Scholarship is one I am currently applying for. It’s for students who live and study in Nebraska, get at least a 2.5 GPA, and plan to attend a public Nebraska college.”

Last, as young students may be wondering what can they do to prepare for college right now, Victoria says, “Make sure to study and have good grades so you can have a good GPA. Maintaining a good GPA can help you get scholarships. Build up a resume! Doing volunteer work and being involved in activities can come to interests for colleges. Also, if you have an idea of what career you want to pursue, talk with people who work in that field. Make sure it’s the right job for you.”

Hopefully, this helpful advice will be some future steps to help college planning go smooth and easily.
