District Music

District Music is an event where the Mercy High Singers, a class for our talented singers, goes to Blair High School and performs both as a group and solo while getting evaluated by judges. The judges look for good tone and diction. This past Friday was when this annual event took place. The group sang “Jabberwocky,” a song from Alice and Wonderland, as well as a traditional German song. They got a one plus, which is the highest score, on both of the songs. After that, they went to a different room in the school where Anna Buck, Megan Oswald, Victoria Nimneh, Katie Schumacher, Emily Rimington, Hanna Stec and Jordan Schaffer preformed their solos. Everyone scored a one or two. Finally, before heading home, they preformed group ensembles, scoring ones and twos yet again!

The judges sent the recordings back to our Mercy High Singers teacher, Ms. Graff, so that the students could see what they could work on to improve their performances. “They [The recordings] were very good to listen to and helpful.” Says Meaghann Plumb, freshman and Mercy High Singer.

Overall, our Mercy High Singers scored very well in District Music, and with the helpful advice of the judges, they will keep improving.
