This weekend the Mercy Monarchs had big competitions leading to some big wins.
On Sunday January 12, the Treblemakers competed in the Titan Classic Show Choir Competition. This is one of the biggest competitions of the year and they won third place in the women’s division. Felicia Plasek, a member of the Treblemakers, says, “I was really happy they beat Marian and Duchesne. Also very happy about the critiques we got. It feels like it’s going to be a good season and we can’t wait for more competitions.”
The dance team is now a competition team this year. Also on Sunday January 12, they competed in their second competition of the season, the Skutt Catholic Dance Team Competition. They placed first in Class B dance and were also awarded overall grand champion. Emma Elsasser, a dancer on the team, said, “I feel like the competition atmosphere is so exciting and really gets me pumped up to dance. For the future I am most looking forward to learning more competition dances and hopefully learning more styles of dance along with representing Mercy at state again.”
The Cheerleaders also had a competition on Sunday January 12. This was their first competition of the season. They competed in the Skyhawk Cheer Sensation and they placed in third. Niyah Gintz, a cheerleader, said, “I felt really good about the competition even though it was my first one. I also was confident about knowing all the cheers. But still feels like there is always room for improvement.”
It’s been a great start to the winter season. Stay tuned for more updates on all Monarchs.
