The New Face of Mercy Athletics

This year at Mercy, a new face may appear at the meets, games, and matches the Monarchs compete in. Mr. Kevin Modrell has joined the Mercy faculty as the new Athletic Director. With the fall season coming to an end, Mr. Modrell is confident in his decision to take this job as Athletic Director. He commented on how welcoming the Mercy community has been to him during his first season. “The girls are great to work with, and the staff is great to work with. Everyone is working toward the same goal.”

His responsibilities as Athletic Director include scheduling games and practices, organizing physical forms, adhering to NSAA regulations, getting buses for certain events, and making sure all the sports are running smoothly and efficiently. Since there are so many sports, especially during the fall, he has dived head first into the very taxing job of Athletic Director.

According to seniors Olivia Petrini and Megan Wheeler, Mr. Modrell’s engaging personality is a welcomed change from years past. “He shows passion for Mercy athletics.” said Wheeler about Mr. Modrell’s enthusiastic approach to his job. “He is much more interactive with the student athletes,” added Petrini.

Prior to coming to Mercy, Mr. Modrell worked at Papillon LaVista Alternative School and has been in athletics for fifteen years. When he heard about an opening for Athletic Director at Mercy, he was very excited to start this new stage in his career. He is excited for the year ahead and he has confidence that his love for athletics will thrive in the Mercy community.
