Top 5 Jobs for Busy Mercy Girls

We all go to our parents from time to time asking for some money. So what happens when, instead of handing over a $5 or $10 bill, they reply by telling you to get a job? Even though it can seem difficult to balance a job with schoolwork, it really is worth it. I mean, who doesn’t want a little bit of extra spending money? Not to mention, having a job in high school teaches you valuable time management skills. Perhaps the best perk of having a job in high school, though, is that it can boost your shot at getting into your dream college. When comparing applicants with similar ACT scores, extracurriculars, and grades, a college is more likely to choose the applicant who has been able to balance a job with other activities throughout high school. You may still be hesitant about getting a job, because even though it has many benefits, it can seem stressful and boring. However, if you find the right job you can have fun while making money. Here are the top five places to work during high school . . .

Not only is Fareway closed on Sundays and holidays, but it also closes at 9:00 pm every night. There are 3 Fareway locations in Omaha, offering the possibility for employment no matter where you live. Fareway has two main positions for teenagers: cashier or courtesy clerk (bagger). If you are looking for a job that works well with your schedule, Fareway is the place for you! Hy-Vee stores are all over Omaha, so it is almost guaranteed that you can find one close enough to you. This grocery store also offers fairly flexible scheduling, which is great for busy high school students. Hy-Vee also has many different departments for employees to work in, so you have the possibility of being in the bakery, floral department, or front end as a cashier, thus giving you the chance to find a department that best fits your personality.
